Going it alone!!

Well today's the day my 4 week block of personal training sessions as come to an end and believe it or not I've decided not to take another block! It's been a hard choice as I love working with my trainer, he's built up my confidence as well as strengthened my body to allow me to exercise pain free, something I thought would be impossible with my arthritis!  But with Christmas coming up and our beautiful December baby turning 5 money is sparse so it's time to take the plunge and go it alone!!!

Today I'm going to work out a new routine for me to follow. My main goals are to continue 'learning to run' and to decrease my body fat percentage. My diet will stay the same, healthy, clean non processed foods always eating protein first. I will continue to avoid grains as much as possible! This week is week 6 without bread!!!!

Stay tuned as I make some more time to dedicate to the blog....coming up a recipes page, product of the week and more!!

Plank Half Plank Owey

Just a quickie today, to remind you all not to be as crazy as me!! Plank half plank on your front room carpet because you can't find your exercise mat really isn't just dedicated, it's stupid lol!! I now have a lovely owey on my elbow.......and when I find out how to put photos onto my post I'll show u lol xx

Week 4 Day 2

Well I'm still here, working hard and creating yummy recipes which will allow me to stay fulfilled and healthy! Monday's workout with my PT was the hardest to date, it absolutely killed me but I loved it! Here's a wee snap shot of what I got up to.....

Quick warm up on the treadmill and a few stretches, all important quad stretch that I love to hate and a pigeon pose that I actually really enjoy.

Then on to a quick circuit of Swiss ball squats, incline press, side box leaps and a cable pull, 5 times!!! This was hard work but I totally enjoyed it. Then moved on to a medicine ball slams followed by running the length of the studio, repeated this until I was almost dead. The walk up the stairs of the gym almost killed me, only to find my lovely PT was walking me to the treadmill to finish me off! At this point I seriously never thought I would manage anything else but the good news is I did and not only did I manage, I ran for the first time on this moving platform called a treadmill that I have forever had a massive fear of......WITHOUT HOLDING ON hahahaha.....

I should report that for two days post work out I had limited use of both my arms and legs as they were so sore lol!! Triceps? What the hell are those? Oh ouch, hello there you are haha!! Good by bingo wings xxxx

Chocolate and exercise, both have their place in my life!

Got a big day exercise wise today, later I'll be attempting a few rounds of full plank to half plank, crab walk and plank knee tucks with no intervals in between. Of course I'll be doing my body weight corrective routine first and I'll round it all off with Learning to Run day 2!

So way am I sitting here procrastinating you ask? I'm shattered but soon I'll drag my ass off the couch and get on with it as I know afterwards I'll feel amazing!!! Oh and because I've just eaten half of a bar of the most wonderful chocolate, this I allow myself every now and then and I share it with my hubby. Share chocolate you say! Yep because things have changed and this beautiful chocolate is sumptuous and rich at 81% cacao you don't need much to satisfy a craving. I'm happy to spend a whole 2g of sugar on 20g of this stuff, it's amazing!!! I'll upload a pic later xx

Learning to Run!!

I'd been set the task by my personal trainer to go out and do 20 sets of 10 second jog and 30 second walk followed by an additional 10 minutes fast walk.  With the kids being off and me feeling totally wiped out yesterday I didn't find the time to go. However tonight I was determined I was going out to get my jog on no matter how nervous I was!

I could say I was pleasantly surprised but that just doesn't cut it! I was amazed, over joyed, pumped, ecstatic that it went as well as it did, I felt like I could fly! I enjoyed every minute of it and I can wait to go out again.  Learning to run 1, DONE!

October holiday mayhem

School holidays are stressful at the beset of times, trying to find activities to keep your kids occupied or just merely trying to stop your kids from killing each other can be a soul consuming task but when you have your own routine to follow it makes things 10 x harder! Here's my top five tips to help you survive the holidays without letting your lifestyle slip!

1) Top of the list has to be - BE PREPARED! I'm openly admitting this holiday crept up on my ass and I haven't been prepared enough. Preplanning activities that will keep your kids busy and also fit in with your lifestyle choices will save you a huge amount of stress and temptation.

2) Next up, Be flexible. There's no point expecting your kids to come out on your 5K run, some older children might revel in the challenge but younger kids will get tired, grumpy and slow you down. Fit your exercise in around them and incorporate it into your weekly activities. Go on a nature walk, take a bike ride, play football in the park. A change is better than a rest!

3) Don't fill the house with junk! Yes it's a holiday and it's nice for kids to have treats but with Halloween just around the corner they really don't need anymore candy than what's already coming to them. ( I'm learning this the hard way this holiday). With the essential preplanning from the number 1 spot and a little prep you can have a host of healthy ingredients ready to make healthy treats which you and the children can enjoy in moderation. You can even make it part of the holiday fun by having the kids prepare the treats alongside you. My children love to cook!

4) Stay headstrong! The stresses of the holidays get on top of us all but with positive affirmations you can stay on top of your game and not be so tempted to put that chocolate or pizza in your mouth! Remind yourself of your goals and visualise yourself reaching them, that feel good factor should be enough to keep you on the straight and narrow.

5) Finally, HAVE FUN!! Kids are only young once, make the most of the precious time your given together outside school and work and make some fabulous memories! With the help of tips 1-4 this should be totally possible.......Enjoy the holidays!!
